Aurora Borealis
LOCATION(S):
The Canadian Arctic
SEASON:
August–April
Our guests wanted to see the aurora borealis. Simple enough. We upped the ante by proposing to transport the family to a private island on a lake in the middle of the Arctic. The island was on the migratory path of one of the largest remaining caribou herds on earth in one of the most remote locations on the globe. We custom built a basic and comfortable tent camp for the celebration (including a gorgeous dinner set under the northern lights). We made sure they had all the equipment to maximize their adventure - including a helicopter and hot air balloon. On the journey our guests crossed paths with the migratory caribou, as well as wolves, and bears. They also spent the afternoon fly fishing for arctic grayling. Once night fell the watch party began. Watching the northern lights in one of the northernmost places on earth seemed fitting.
